Faith in the Storm: How God Carried Me Through My Mother’s Diagnosis πŸŽ€ A journey of grief, faith, and the strength God gave me to keep going

Faith in the Storm: How God Carried Me Through My Mother’s Diagnosis

πŸ’— Because even in the darkest moments, God’s light never left us

When my mother first began showing symptoms of Inflammatory Breast Cancer, I didn’t know what we were facing. I didn’t know the signs. I didn’t know the urgency. I didn’t know how fast IBC could spread.

But God knew. And He carried me through every moment — even the ones that broke me.

This is the story of how faith held me together when everything else was falling apart.

When Fear Became Real — And Faith Became Necessary

The day my mother’s symptoms worsened, fear hit me like a wave. Redness. Swelling. Warmth. Changes happening so fast I couldn’t keep up.

I felt helpless. I felt terrified. I felt like time was slipping through our fingers.

But in that fear, God whispered strength into places I didn’t know were still alive.

I prayed constantly — sometimes with words, sometimes with tears. And every prayer felt like a lifeline.

The Moments I Asked God “Why?”

I won’t pretend I didn’t question God. I did.

I asked Him:

  • Why this cancer?

  • Why this speed?

  • Why my mother?

  • Why now?

But even in my questioning, God didn’t leave. He didn’t silence me. He didn’t punish me for hurting.

Instead, He held space for my grief.

He reminded me that faith isn’t the absence of fear — it’s the courage to keep walking through it.

How God Strengthened Me to Advocate for My Mother

IBC is often misdiagnosed as an infection. My mother was given antibiotics. Her symptoms didn’t improve. They worsened.

I didn’t know what to do — but God guided me.

He gave me the strength to:

  • Ask hard questions

  • Push for imaging

  • Seek second opinions

  • Trust my instincts

  • Refuse to be dismissed

Faith didn’t make the journey easy. Faith made the journey possible.

The Scripture That Carried Me

During the hardest nights, one verse kept coming back to me:

“God is within her, she will not fall.” — Psalm 46:5

I repeated it over and over. For my mother. For myself. For the strength we needed to keep going.

It became my anchor.

When Grief Arrived — God Stayed

Losing my mother shattered me. But God stayed.

He stayed in the silence. He stayed in the heartbreak. He stayed in the moments I didn’t recognize myself.

And slowly, He began turning my pain into purpose.

How Faith Led Me to IBC Awareness Advocacy

God didn’t let my mother’s story end in silence. He turned it into a mission.

A mission to:

  • Educate women

  • Share the symptoms we missed

  • Advocate for early imaging

  • Raise awareness about IBC

  • Save lives through knowledge

Faith didn’t erase the pain — it transformed it.

What I Want Every Woman to Know

If you’re facing fear, uncertainty, or a diagnosis that shakes your world:

  • God sees you

  • God hears you

  • God is with you

  • God will carry you

And if you notice symptoms like redness, swelling, warmth, peau d’orange texture 🍊, or rapid breast changes, trust your instincts and seek urgent evaluation.

Your faith is powerful. Your voice is powerful. Your awareness is powerful.

In Honor of My Mother

πŸ’— For her courage πŸ’— For her faith πŸ’— For her story πŸ’— For the women who will recognize the signs because she didn’t get the chance πŸ’— For the lives that will be saved through awareness

Her journey strengthened my faith. Her story fuels my mission. God carried me — and He will carry you too.
