Healing After Loss: A Daughter’s Journey Through Grief and Purpose ๐ŸŽ€ How love, loss, and purpose shaped the woman I am today

Healing After Loss: A Daughter’s Journey Through Grief and Purpose

๐Ÿ’— In honor of my mother — and the purpose her story gave me

Losing my mother to Inflammatory Breast Cancer changed me forever. Grief didn’t arrive gently. It came like a storm — sudden, heavy, and impossible to outrun.

But in that storm, something else began to grow: Purpose. Strength. A calling I never expected.

This is my journey — the grief that broke me, the faith that held me, and the purpose that rebuilt me.

The Day Everything Changed

My mother’s symptoms appeared quickly:

  • Redness

  • Swelling

  • Warmth

  • Skin texture that looked different

  • Changes happening faster than we could understand

We didn’t know these were signs of IBC. We didn’t know how fast it could spread. We didn’t know antibiotics wouldn’t help.

But I know now. And I share her story so other women can know too.

Learn more about IBC symptoms women should never ignore.

Grief That Reshaped My World

Grief doesn’t just hurt — it transforms.

It changed:

  • How I see life

  • How I value time

  • How I show love

  • How I advocate for women

  • How I honor my mother’s legacy

Some days, grief felt like a weight I couldn’t carry. Other days, it felt like a reminder of how deeply I loved her.

Both were true. Both were holy.

The Moment Purpose Found Me

Purpose didn’t arrive all at once. It came in pieces:

A woman asking me about breast changes she didn’t understand. A friend saying she didn’t know IBC existed. A stranger thanking me for sharing my mother’s story. A message from someone who sought imaging because of my posts.

That’s when I realized: My mother’s story wasn’t just ours — it was a lifeline for others.

Turning Pain Into Advocacy

I couldn’t save my mother. But I can help save someone else’s.

That truth became my mission.

I began writing. I began educating. I began sharing the symptoms we missed. I began speaking boldly about misdiagnosis, rapid progression, and early action.

Learn more about how fast IBC can spread. Learn more about what to do if antibiotics aren’t working.

Every post, every graphic, every conversation is a piece of her legacy.

Healing Through Helping Others

Healing didn’t come from forgetting. It came from remembering — and using those memories to protect others.

Healing looked like:

  • Sharing her story

  • Creating awareness graphics

  • Writing blog posts

  • Educating women

  • Trusting my voice

  • Trusting my purpose

Healing wasn’t a destination. It was a journey — one I’m still walking.

The Faith That Carried Me

Grief can make you feel alone, but God never left my side.

He carried me through:

  • The fear

  • The confusion

  • The diagnosis

  • The loss

  • The rebuilding

Faith didn’t erase the pain — it gave me strength to rise from it.

What I Want Every Woman to Know

If you’re grieving, healing, or searching for answers:

  • You are not alone

  • Your feelings are valid

  • Your voice matters

  • Your instincts matter

  • Your story has purpose

  • Your awareness can save lives

And if you notice breast changes you don’t understand, seek evaluation. Your life is worth every question, every appointment, every second of advocacy.

In Honor of My Mother

๐Ÿ’— For her courage ๐Ÿ’— For her love ๐Ÿ’— For her story ๐Ÿ’— For the women who will recognize the signs because she didn’t get the chance ๐Ÿ’— For the lives that will be saved through awareness

Her journey shaped my purpose. Her love shaped my strength. Her legacy shapes my mission.
